Airtel Hikes Basic Tariffs in Seven Regions by Nearly 57 Percent

Bharti Airtel telecom carrier launched a new entry-level plan at Rs. 155 in seven regions. Airtel spokesperson said the tariff plans are increasing by approximately 57 percent. Airtel’s new plan was launched in Karnataka, Bihar and Rajasthan after terminating Rs 99 plan.

Bharti Airtel has introduced this plan in Odisha and Haryana states last year as a trial basis.

Also, as per the information from the sources, the Telecom firms likely to increase their tariff plans to increase revenue. While, the Telecoms spent a large sum on country’s 5G auction last year, they are planning to raise the tariff plans.

Airtel’s average revenue per user (ARPU), is the performance indicator. It was Rs. 190 in the September-quarter, a 3.8 percent sequential rise and a roughly 24 percent year-on-year increase.

Airtel mentioned in November 2021 that, the ARPU is supposed to be at Rs. 200 and ultimately at Rs. 300 for a financially strong business.

Airtel’s competitors Reliance Jio had an ARPU at Rs. 177.2 in the September quarter which rose slightly to Rs. 178.2 in the December quarter. Jio, was disturbed the industry with cut-price rates in 2016, has not yet raised tariffs in over a year. Airtel is planning to report its third-quarter results on February 7.
